EV Charger Installation in Utah County, Utah
Same-day ev charger installation across every city in Utah County, Utah. Free in-home estimates, transparent pricing, 500+ five-star reviews.
EV charger installs in Utah County have exploded over the last 3 years as Tesla, Rivian, Ford F-150 Lightning, and Chevy Bolt adoption climbs in Utah. Most Utah County homes need a Level 2 (240V) charger to charge overnight at usable speeds — 25-40 miles of range per hour. The install depends on three things: (1) how far from your electrical panel you need the charger (every foot of conduit run costs $), (2) whether your panel has the spare 50-amp breaker space (200-amp panels usually yes, 150-amp panels often no), (3) whether you want a hardwired install or a NEMA 14-50 outlet (we recommend hardwired for 48-amp+ EVSEs because the outlets fail). Every install gets permits pulled and inspected by the Utah County electrical inspector.

EV Charger Installation FAQs · Utah County
How much does EV charger installation cost in Utah County?
Simple install (charger location within 25 ft of panel, panel has capacity): $850-$1,400. Mid-distance (25-50 ft, conduit through finished walls): $1,200-$1,850. Long run (over 50 ft, requires sub-panel or buried conduit): $1,800-$2,800. Panel upgrade if needed (150A to 200A): additional $1,800-$2,800. Charger itself: $400-$800 customer-supplied (Tesla, ChargePoint, etc).
Do I need a panel upgrade for an EV charger in my Utah County home?
Usually no if you have a 200-amp panel with spare breaker space. Usually yes if you have a 100-amp panel (very common in Utah County homes built before 1995) - upgrading to 200A is required to add the 50-amp EV circuit safely. Tesla Wall Connector at 48 amps requires a 60-amp breaker, which is the breaking point for some 150A panels.
Should I get a hardwired EV charger or a NEMA 14-50 outlet?
For 32-amp chargers: outlet is fine and gives you portability. For 40-48 amp chargers (Tesla Wall Connector at full power, ChargePoint Home Flex high setting): hardwired is the right call - NEMA 14-50 outlets are not rated for continuous high-amperage and several brands have had outlet melt failures at high draw. We default to hardwired unless you specifically need the outlet flexibility.
Will my electric bill increase noticeably from EV charging in Utah County?
Yes but less than you think. Driving 1,000 miles/month in a typical EV at Rocky Mountain Power off-peak overnight rates: $25-$45/month in added electricity. Gas equivalent for 1,000 miles in a comparable ICE: $100-$140/month. Net savings $55-$115/month per car. We can set up the charger schedule to only charge during off-peak hours if you have time-of-use billing.
Does Utah County require permits for EV charger installation?
Yes - every Level 2 install needs a permit from the Utah County building/electrical department. We pull the permit, schedule the inspector, and handle the signoff as part of the install. You don't coordinate with the city. Permit fees are usually $75-$150 depending on jurisdiction, included in our quote.
