HVAC Service Technician
Utah County & Salt Lake CountyFull-time$28–$45/hr DOE + bonus + spiff
About this role
Service techs are the face of AYSP for our existing customers. You will run a stocked van, diagnose what's actually wrong (not what's easiest to upsell), and write straightforward options for the homeowner — repair / replace / wait.
Our tune-up checklist is the same one we publish on the website. We don't run bait specials. If you've worked at a shop where the commission structure pushes parts that don't need replacing, this will feel different.
What you'll do day to day
- Diagnose AC, furnace, heat pump, mini-split, and IAQ problems using gauges, multimeter, manometer, and combustion analyzer.
- Perform the AYSP 14-point tune-up: capacitor microfarad, contactor inspection, amp draws, superheat/subcool, coil condition, drain line, static pressure, thermostat, temperature split.
- Write repair options with photos. Quote in plain language. Walk customers through what each option does and doesn't fix.
- Carry capacitors, contactors, motors, ignitors, flame sensors, drain pans, and common parts to first-call complete.
- Use ServiceTitan on the iPad for dispatch, customer files, invoicing, and payment.
Requirements
- EPA 608 Universal certification.
- Minimum 2 years HVAC service experience (3+ preferred).
- Valid Utah driver's license, clean enough for company-vehicle insurance.
- Combustion analysis experience or willingness to learn (we use Testo).
- Pass background check and pre-employment drug screen.
Nice to have (but not required)
- NATE certification (Air Conditioning, Heat Pump, or Gas Furnace specialty).
- Familiarity with ServiceTitan or comparable FSM software.
- Customer-facing experience — we hire technicians who can explain things, not just turn wrenches.
